I try not to make any new year resolutions because I have never kept ANY resolutions I've ever made, but I do have a list of things I'd like to improve on and learn this year.
Here are a few of the ones I came up with and/or wanted to work on.
I'd like to learn more about US History. Have you ever looked at the US Citizenship test? Take a look at it and see how many of the questions you can answer.
I desperately need to give this up. So far I've gone three days without. I know this sounds trivial and stupid, but I usually drink about 2 or 3 a day, so I'm doing pretty good. Caffeine is an ugly thing, it really does not do anything good for the body.
I've always wanted to learn how to fly fish and this is the year. I found an Orvis store that teaches for free (can't beat that). Of course they sell some mighty fine fly fishing rods and trips to go along with the free lessons.
I'm not going to make any unreasonable exercise goals, or any specific weight loss goals and y'all know how I feel about diets (hate em), but I want to do more to be healthy. If that means a change in what I eat (or drink... see above), to getting out and walking, or to parking near the back of the parking lot so that I force myself to walk a few extra steps, then that's what it is.

I want to plan out a real professional garden this year. I did so well last year and now that I know I can do it, it's time to get serious.

Love this time of year to look at my life and make some improvements. Eating healthy is #1. I just need to start!
What a great tradition for you and your family to make lunches for the homeless!
You have some neat things on your list. The history is a good one - I really am going to look to see how much I know. I bet not as much as I should.
And fly fishing - that is pretty cool too!
I love this time of year to get organized and start new goals and return to others I haven't completed but hope to someday.
Happy New Year!
I deleted your blog from my blog roll about ten days ago, and here I find you on Cherie's! So glad you're back. I'm adding you back!
I have ALWAYS wanted to learn to fly fish too! I knew we were kindred spirits- ha. Ever since watching A River Runs Through It. I even sang in THE church from the movie in MT in high school. But so far, I've yet to fly fish.
As far as the DC addiction, I found that what I loved was actually the carbonation most of the time. Because I started buying flavored seltzer waters and like 95% of the time they filled the void. I figure that if then I still really want a Diet Coke, well so be it. It does help with headaches and nausea though. Try seltzers- they are really yummy and calorie free but still feel like a treat.
I have not ever seen the citizenship test, but have heard that it is really hard. I always loved US History in high school and would love to learn more as well. I think it's great that you want to plant another garden this year. It does seem like you had a really good run with your garden last time. =)
I agree, making time to live, laugh and love is wonderful. Happy New Year!
Great goals. I haven't made a list this year but want to simplify...all areas.
Hi there, thanks for your visit. I would love to learn to fly fish, it looks so graceful! Happy New Year! :D
